Art Journal Prompts: Week 04 - Life is and Week 05 - Take Two

Good Evening All.

I've got two lots of pages to share with you today; both are relatively simple without lots of steps so I'm going to show you the final image and then give a brief overview of how I created them.

Week 04 - Life is....

Memento Ink Pad - Black
Memento Teardrop Ink Pad - Pinks, Purples, Blues, Greens, Yellows
Papermania Embossing Powder Purple
Paperartsy Rubber Stamp - Everything Art 03
Marianne Design Clear Stamp Distressed Linen
Marianne Design Clear Stamp Eline's Brush
The Works Wooden Alphabet Stamp

Stamp the distressed linen stamp in light coloured beige ink as the first layer.

Once dry stamp each word with the black memento and then double emboss each with the purple embossing powder.  In my picture it does look very black, but in real life there is more of a purple tinge to it.  You could make it more purple by stamping using a versamark ink pad.

After all the embossing was done let the page cool down before proceeding to the next step.

Use the brush stamp set and the various different shades of memento to cover most of the rest of the background, finishing off by stamping the paint brushes from the Paperartsy set.

Week 5 - Take Two....

For this page I decided to turn the prompt into a negative about not being able to take two different choices at once.

Trim a sheet of glossy cardstock down to fit in your journal (using glossy cardstock gives the page a much shinier finish and also makes it easier when working with the inks to colour).

Take  the various different sizes of the pine trees and start off by stamping in the middle of the page.  As you stamp more of the trees moving up the page and out to the edges, make sure that you overlap them as trees would be in real life.  The aim is to create a shallow triangle shape to act as a split in the forest road.

Using the same stamps, stamps overlapping trees on the bottom corners leaving a gap at the very bottom of the page between the two corners.

Take the grass stamp and cover the whole area from the bottom of the page up to the lower branches on the top most tree you have stamped.  Make sure that you overlap as you stamp so that there are no harsh lines where you have reused the stamped image.

Give everything you have stamped so far a quick blast with a heat gun to set before moving on.

Take the moon and mist stamp and stamp it near to the top right of the image.  Using the cloud stamp stamp clouds all around the moon and down to where you stamped the grass.  Again make sure that you overlap your cloud stamping to avoid the hard lines.

Using the Colourbox stylus and the memento inks colour the image in.  (check out this YouTube link for the Stampscapes designer showing you their use: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnLPP_MKTXGyBYr8_PjkJvQ)

Once the image is all coloured in and dry, add some highlights using the white gel pen.

Finish up by stamping your quote in white ink.  To ensure that you don't smear the ink once it's dry give it a light coat with some cheap hairspray.

I hope that you've enjoyed learning about how I have created these two pages.

I've got something a little different planned for my next post so keep your eyes peeled for that coming up.

Good Bye Until Next Time
